You're invited to the opening salvo of the Museum of the American Revolution!
The future Museum is to be built at the corner of 3rd and Chestnut Streets in Philadelphia, just steps away from Independence Hall. The building now on the site‒the former Independence National Historical Park Visitor Center built in 1976‒has been closed since 2002, and ownership was transferred to MoAR in 2010 through a land exchange. Demoliton on the existing building is anticipated to begin in March 2014, and construction to begin during the summer of 2014. The museum building, designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, is scheduled to open in late 2016.
Join us as we celebrate the first step in bringing the Museum of the American Revolution to life.
